What do you kow about Industrial Heating?

There may be a large amount of information regarding your industrial heating that you may be unaware of. This article outlines some of the points that you not have even considered.

Did you know? That you can reduce your energy usage by setting your thermostats to optimum start and finish times.

Setting your timers to the appropriate temperatures and correct operating hours. If staff enter the workplace and it is cold then they may turn the heating up to full, and this may increase the energy used, to heat the building up, so it may be a good idea to set the temperature to warm up the building before the workers arrive. This could also contribute to the prevention of your pipework freezing in the colder weather.

Did you know? That heating costs rise by approx. 8% for each 1 degree of overheating?

This is why it is so important to ensure that you and all of you staff are trained on the usage of the heating controls and the temperatures in which they need to be set at. There are a variety of energy saving controls available to assist you with reducing your energy usage.

Did you know? That you can provide spot heating to particular parts of your building, where heat is required, using energy efficient radiant heaters. This allows you to control where the heat in your building is distributed should you have mixed temperature requirements.

Did you know? that you can recirculate your heated air back to ground level, reducing heat loss through the ceiling?

For example if you are attempting heat a church that has extremely high ceilings using warm air heaters, you would need to push the heated air back down towards ground level, to provide the heat where it's needed.

Did you know? that the minimum temperature within the workplace is 16 degrees and for sedentary work this could be increased to 20 degrees, although some working environments, may be exempt from this for example if you work with chilled foods, where appropriate measures such as PPE would be put into place to keep you warm in colder temperatures

Did you know? that the amount of window space in your building can affect the type of heating you need?

This is because that 26% of your buildings heat loss is through the windows. Double or Triple glazing could reduce this, but will not eradicate it completely. That's why before you consider a new heating installation a thorough heat loss calculation, can be carried out to help you to understand the heating requirements for your building.
